Alan Peters

Alan is a systems engineer with experience working in the automotive, transport and nuclear industries. Specialising in the design and assurance of complex and novel systems particularly autonomous vehicles.

At the TSC, Alan leads a number of Automated vehicle projects and specialises in systems engineering, functional safety and the safe management of automated vehicle trials. Alan has worked on the LUTZ Pathfinder Automated vehicle project, worked with Centre for Connected & Autonomous Vehicles (CCAV), and the FLOURISH CAV project based in South West.

Previously Alan has worked on a number of automated vehicle projects including the Heathrow Airport Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) system and ‘towards autonomous’ projects for Jaguar Land Rover.

In 2011, he completed a EngD in Systems Engineering with thesis: ‘The Safety of Personal Rapid Transit Systems’.  Alan holds a MEng and EngD from University of Bristol, was Visiting Fellow of the University of Bristol ‘Centre for Systems’ till 2015, and gained Chartered Engineer from the IET in 2016.
