IM Skills on the Agenda

The TSC are currently working with industry and academic partners to develop an IM skills strategy which supports industry’s growing need to create a qualified, mobile workforce with transferable skills for a world class UK IM industry.

A recent market analysis undertaken by the Transport Systems Catapult suggests that the global Intelligent Mobility market will reach £900bn by 2025, about 1% of the projected global GDP.

A redistribution of the market spend is expected away from traditional transport (volume car manufacturing, insurance and health) to mobility as a service (shared ownership, software intensive aspects).

Intelligent mobility cannot be just the domain of traffic engineers, transport planners and technicians. A smart transport system properly integrated into society requires transport thinking to include communications, design, sociology, psychology, IT and innovation across the multi-modal, multi-discipline transit environment. That’s where our Skills Strategy comes in.
