Dave Mullin, Paul Zanelli & Alex Farr join Catapult leadership team. Transport Systems Catapult, part of the Catapult programme, a network of world-leading centres designed to transform the UK’s capability for innovation, is pleased to announce three appointments to further bolster its senior team.
Following the recent announcement of the appointment of the Catapult’s Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer, and Director of Business Development, the Transport Systems Catapult continues to recruit its senior management team, with only one position now remaining.
Dave Mullin is appointed as Director of Innovation. Dave started his career as a researcher in the BAE Systems, Advanced Technology Centre where he specialised in data fusion and artificial intelligence. Passionate about innovation throughout his career, in 2008 Dave was a founding non-executive director of the Security Innovation and Technology Consortium (now part of ADS) which brings together Government, Industry and Academia in the security sector to identify and address some of the major technology challenges in that market. Dave set up and managed the BAE Systems corporate venturing fund, Investment In Innovation, having previously held senior strategy, business development and research management roles with the company. Most recently, Dave has been working on a strategic organisational project at Network Rail. Dave will start in his new role on the 8th November 2013.
Dr Paul Zanelli is appointed as Chief Technical Officer and will be joining the team from 1st November 2013. Paul has a PhD from York University Computer Science Department, has founded and managed two high technology start-ups and spent two years working for Advent Venture Partners, a leading UK venture capital company. More recently Paul was a Technology Fellow at BAE Systems Advanced Technology Centre where he was responsible for a range of technical capabilities including: Computational Engineering, Networks and Communications, Systems Engineering, Information Processing and Human Factors. During the last year, Paul has been Head of R&D at Network Rail, playing a key role in highlighting the importance of the R&D agenda in the Rail industry.
In addition, Alex Farr will be joining the Catapult as IT Manager on the 14th October, reporting directly to Chris Powell, Chief Financial Officer. Alex has a successful IT Management and Project Management career spanning 13 years. Alex joins the team from Bounty UK where, as the IT Manager, he supported users all over the UK and managed a small team including DBA, network support and helpdesk support. Prior to that he worked as IT Systems Manager (Head of IT) with the All England Netball Association where he gained significant start-up experience. As IT Manager, Alex will take responsibility for all IT systems, projects and administration for the Transport Systems Catapult.
