Join teams of experts to develop the transport solution of tomorrow at IMCreate 2015 – the Transport Systems Catapult’s inaugural Smart Transport Solutions Hackathon.
The Transport Systems Catapult (TSC) will run the World’s first Intelligent Mobility Hackathon in November, as part of its on-going mission to accelerate innovation in transport and you can be part of it. The event will use the intensive environment of a Hackathon event along with the transport data index by the TSC at www.imdata.co.uk to address critical problems within the UKs transport network.
The event, held over Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th November 2015, will bring together over 100 data scientists; software engineers; business thinkers; marketers and innovators, as well as public and private transport sector end-users and suppliers.
IMCreate will start in London with access to exclusive data sets as well as cutting edge hardware, and software. Teams will develop their ideas while travelling around on many forms of transport, ending with the train from Euston to Milton Keynes. The event will conclude at the at the Catapult’s groundbreaking Imovation Centre facility, home of the LUTZ pathfinder driverless car project.
IMCreate organiser Charles Carter from TSC’s Information Exploitation team commented:
“The fusion of creativity and technical prowess is critical to solving the transport challenges of today and tomorrow. It is time to explore a new approach, one that gives equal weighting to both artistry and methodology, to shape the engineers and technologists of the future. IMCreate is the embodiment of this and we aim to develop the ideas which will revolutionize how we move people and goods around the country, using data and information the TSC has gathered from all modes of transport as inspiration.
We are confident that fresh thinking developed at IMCreate will lead to new transport projects or start-up companies that will become Transport Industry leaders in the future, creating jobs and growth in the UK. We’ll help the winners to achieve this. We also think we will uncover some entrepreneurial stars at our event who will become major contributors both to the UK’s Transport System and the UK economy”
A panel made up of leaders from industry and academia will choose the first, second and third best solutions developed at the event. Those interested in taking part should email IMCreate@ts.catapult.org.uk or for more details visit www.ts.catapult.org.uk.
