Challenge 4: Asset Data

Synopsis: How better data management can help reduce longer term asset management costs

HS2 provides the opportunity to embed a next generation asset management strategy that optimises value across HS2 data groups through leveraging the datafication of the entire railway environment.

These data groups and systems include infrastructure, stations and rolling stock.

Participants were encouraged to develop strategic ideas that include how data could be exploited outside of HS2 to generate commercial revenue to reinvest and produce wider benefit to the UK.

Participants where asked to consider the following points when developing their strategy:

  • Drive commercial value and wider UK benefit from data captured during the programme
  • Industrial strategy, replicability, sustainability, scalability
  • Reduce operating costs, improve customer experience and perform smarter maintenance activities including predictive methods
  • Possible corporate service levels that asset management strategy needs to support
  • Whole life costing, value and risk based asset management and optimization
  • Reduce energy consumption

Output: Strategic ideas and/or outline business model
